Sonya Bertolino

Photographer & Founder of Avian

As a native Houstonian with over fifteen years of experience in photography, Sonya has known from an early age that photography was her passion. She holds a Bachelor's Degree in photography from St. Edwards University and has had numerous internships here in Houston including at FotoFest and Houston Center for Photography. Before graduating she gained supplemental education by attending the prestigious Maine Media Workshops and Santa Fe Photographic Workshops. Upon graduating, she worked at Houston Camera Exchange. After being bit by the real estate bug, Sonya transitioned into working for the marketing department for John Daugherty, Realtors, one of Houston’s premiere real estate firms as a production artist where she learned the ins and outs of real estate. Eventually she learned that she could combine these two interests as an architectural photographer and initially took on a job as a photo editor for a local real estate photography company before finally taking the plunge and starting her own business in 2018 and hasn’t looked back since. Since then she has photographed some of Houston’s most expensive listings and her work has been featured in numerous publications. In her spare time she enjoys traveling around the world with her husband, walking her dog along the bayou in the evenings, exploring Houston's vast dining scene, and is continually making improvements to their historical Spanish Mediterranean home in the East End.
